Belfast City Events Office has advised us of roadworks on the Upper Newtownards Road this weekend.

The roadworks may have a knock on effect for folk attending the UK Pipe Band Championships if they are running on a tight schedule.

The Tartan Talk column which ran for decades in the News Letter resumed on Saturday 20th May 2017 and during the RSPBANI Branch season, there will also be a Monday column featuring the results/pictures from the previous week.

The inaugural Belfast Summer School of Traditional Music takes place on the 31st of July to the 4th of August, 2017, in venues around the Cathedral Quarter. Bagpipes and Bagpipe Snare Drumming are included in the programme, the invited tutors are Allan McDonald and Steven McWhirter who will be hosting masterclasses and performances.

Michael Brown, a member of Bleary and District Pipe Band is raising money for Cool FM's Cash for Kids Charity. On the 3rd of June, Michael plans to cycle to the Mid Ulster Pipe Band Championships in Cookstown to raise money for the Charity from his home in Coleraine, a distance of 41.1 miles.

Michael has set up a page on the Cool FM's Cash for Kids website to accept donations online, which can be accessed by clicking here, or you can personally donate to the Charity through Michael.
