Fermanagh & Omagh Council is carrying out site works at the Lakeland Forum which has reduced the normal number of car parking spaces within the grounds of the Forum for Saturdays forthcoming contest.  It is expected that the spaces within the Forum  grounds will fill up early and there will be some spaces reserved for disabled users.  The Fermanagh Section and the Council have however been able to secure the Wellington Road Car Park as the main free Contest venue car park.  This is situated beside Enniskillen Castle and directly opposite the normal contest venue.   This car park will be open from early Saturday morning.  There is also free car parking available in the area in front of the Royal British Legion.  There ae a number of other car parks close to the venue.

The Section have arranged free alternate parking for Motor Homes and overspill cars in Stuarts Car Park on Sligo Road, Enniskillen.  This is a five minute stroll from the contest venue.  No motor homes are allowed into the Fermanagh Lakeland Forun grounds overnight.

At the County Fermanagh Pipe Band & Drum Major Championships a new 6/8 march entitled ‘J S Henderson’ was presented to Jim Henderson in recognition of his exemplary service to the Fermanagh Section of the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association (NI) by the Section Chairman, William Stinson.  Jim has been a founder member of Trillick Pipe Band and is still piping with the band after almost 70 years.  He has and continues to be a wonderful supporter of Pipe Bands in County Fermanagh and Northern Ireland and has served as the County Fermanagh President for 30 years.

The tune was written especially for the occasion by Ian Burrows (RSPBANI Project Manager and Pipe Major of Drumlough Pipe Band).  After the formal presentation, Ian played his new composition in front of the massed bands and the large crowd assembled for the finale.

Included in the photo are Jim’s wife Ruth and also William Stinson, Chairman of the Fermanagh Section of the RSPBANI (left) and Ian Burrows, RSPBANI Project Manager (right).  The section would like to thank John Kelly for capturing the occassion with the photograph.
