We have been advised by Council that parking in the back field on the hill at Donard Park will open at 8 a.m. on Saturday and will then be locked by Security at 8 p.m. and will not reopen until 1 p.m. on Sunday. Please ensure that you vacate the back field by this time as the security company will charge £25.00 to open the barrier between opening and closing times.

On enquiring about Motor Home parking at Newcastle, the below reply was received from Newry, Mourne and Down District Council.

'The overflow car park (grass area above playing fields) is being managed by a private company on behalf of the council due to on-going Anti Social Behaviour. It opens at 1 pm and closes at 8 pm this Friday. They charge a £25 fee to open the gates after this time.

There is no designated Motor Home parking within the Donard park area.'

The following link shows the route for this year's parade after the Portrush competition, this is the same route that was taken last year. The attached picture shows the parade termination point. Bands can either turn in the direction of the East Strand Car Park or towards Bath Street. Over the past number of years, the Branch Executive have been concerned about the safety implications of terminating the parade at an open road junction. We've tried a number of stewarding options but none of these has delivered the safety improvements that we feel are necessary. This termination point allows us to disperse the parade in a safe pedestrian area with a minimal impact on the normal parade route.

We must also remind Drum Majors that, following a robust risk assessment process, high throws will not be permitted on the parade and flourishing must be restricted to close bodywork.
